Earth Day- Eco-Friendly Things to Do to Help Our EnvironmentEarth Day is an event created to celebrate the planet’s environment and raise people’s awareness about pollution. It is held every year on April 22nd and is observed worldwide by conferences, meetings, projects and outdoor activities. Devoting a special day to the Earth is a way to show how much we care about the future of our planet. There are different ways to be involved and you can choose the one that suits you best. You can plant a tree, clean up trash in your neighbourhood, make a bird feeder – the opportunities are endless. In one word, anything to help our environment is a perfect thing to do on the Earth Day.

Still you shouldn’t restrict yourself to only one day in a year, therefore, learn about how you can help our planet every day.

Take Care of Trees, Plants and Animals

Take Cae of Trees, Plants and Animals

The significance of trees and plants is inestimable. They clean pollution, help to reduce greenhouse emissions and provide home for many animals. And that is already enough to consider the reasons to be engaged in protecting flora and fauna.

Plant a tree in a garden, at campus, near the dorm, or somewhere you like. Pick the one that you know may survive in your climate. Make sure you plant it correctly. If you doubt, better ask the employee at the garden shop or simply search on the web.
Welcome animals into the school yard. Install a squirrel or a bird feeder to attract more animals. You can ask your friends to help you.
Clean up litter. There are different groups who gather at weekends and clear streets, roads and gardens of litter. It’s a great community project and you can become a part of it.

Consume Earth-Friendly Food

Consume Earth-Friendly Food

Try to eat locally grown food. It doesn’t require much gas to arrive in your town, so it is more environmentally friendly. That’s why when buying products, look for those that were produced on small local farms rather than at big factories.

To be eco-friendly, you can also consider a vegetarian diet. Most meat is produced under conditions that are cruel to animals and pollute the environment. But if you don’t want to give up eating meat, then at least buy products from local farms.

For carrying products, take a cloth bag with you instead of using plastic bags. It is also a great idea to take your drink container and use paper coffee cups instead of plastic ones as they are reusable.

Save Water and Energy

Save Water and Energy

There are a few simple ways how you can save electricity, gas and water supply:

  • Ride a bike instead of using a car. This is the most environmentally friendly type of transport.
  • When you wash your hands or brush the teeth, turn the water off if it is not used.
    Try to take shorter showers.
  • Turn off all electronics and appliances when you are not using them.
  • Wash clothes in cold water. It is not only better for keeping the colors bright, but also saves a ton of energy.

All of the things mentioned above are very easy to follow daily. The Earth is an amazing beautiful place, and we should preserve it for future generations. It is not so hard to protect it, a little effort of each of us will make its own contribution.

Do your own eco-friendly thing today to care of this beautiful planet we call home!
